Premier Technology Expands Manufacturing Site in Blackfoot, Idaho
06/12/2018
The company, which broke ground on its $15 million, 70,000 square foot expansion project, manufactures products for multiple markets, including the mining industry, commercial nuclear, food processing and the Department of Energy. The company currently employs more than 300 people.
According to state officials, improvements to existing facilities are already underway and will continue throughout the summer. Premier is also adding new equipment with state-of-the-art technology, such as automated metal-processing equipment, with plans to hire over 100 associates in professional and various skilled trades.
“Eastern Idaho is seeing strong growth in all areas of technology,” said Jan Rogers, CEO of Regional Economic Development for Eastern Idaho. “Premier Technology’s expansion is another example of our region’s growing tech industry, particularly for advanced and small modular reactors.”
“We’re struggling to find qualified workers, so we’ve started our own training program. We’re hiring individuals and then putting them through training and developing their skills so they can work for us,” Chief Business Officer Douglas Sayer said.
“Doug and I are pleased to continue making investments not only in our employees but also the facilities, local infrastructure, and the community around us that have been so supportive,” said Shelly Sayer, CEO. “We are grateful to the City of Blackfoot and Bingham County for championing the project.”
Idaho Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter said, “Shelly and Doug have built a wonderful operation in Blackfoot, with a footprint reaching throughout Idaho. This new venture will keep Premier Technology at the forefront of metal processing technology and reactor manufacturing nationally and globally. Idaho is fortunate to be home to the Premier team and others who are leveraging opportunities through the Idaho National Laboratory to keep growing our economy.”
