09/18/2020
“In 2018, when we broke ground on our Newton Data Center, we affirmed our commitment to this vibrant community. Today, we are pleased to announce that we are strengthening that commitment with the addition of three new buildings, nearly 1.5 million square feet, to the Newton Data Center,” a Facebook spokesperson said.
Once completed, this data center will represent an investment of more than $1 billion and will support more than 200 jobs,” the company added.
“We have a goal of supporting our global operations with 100% renewable energy, including the Newton Data Center. As of today, we have enabled six new solar projects for a total of 435 megawatts. In turn, these new renewable energy projects are generating more than 2,500 construction jobs.”
“Thank you to the Joint Development Authority, and to Jasper, Walton, Morgan and Newton counties, for helping us continue to invest in this community. We look forward to strengthening this partnership for years to come,” company officials added.
