Bihler of America Expands with Facility in Phillipsburg, New Jersey
05/01/2018
Its new multi-use structure will be situated adjacent to its two existing manufacturing plants. Construction of the new building is scheduled to commence in April 2018, and the Company expects it to be fully operational by the first quarter of 2019. Combined, these three buildings will total more than 350,000 square feet.
According to company officials, Bihler of America’s expansion is due in part to an increased demand in contract manufacturing projects. Another determining factor was the ability to accommodate growth across the entire spectrum of Bihler Group Companies, including Bihler 4 Slide-NC and BihlerMED as well as BihlerFLEX and its lines of bungee and pet products.
“Re-shoring is a trend that continues to gain momentum, and we expect manufacturing in the U.S. to rise along with it. Companies with products that you might not consider as candidates for re-shoring are talking to U.S.-based manufacturers once again, with automation driving these conversations,” Max Linder, Director of Sales and Marketing for Bihler of America, said. “With the new expansion plans, Bihler of America is taking the steps necessary to ensure that they are well positioned to support the coming demands for contract manufacturing, services and equipment.”
“We fully expect the new building to have more than half its total output capacity committed to by the time operations begin early next year,” Linder said. The new facility will also house assembly areas for Bihler 4 Slide-NC machine production. Linder added, “The new facility clearly demonstrates an ongoing commitment to support and grow our 4 Slide-NC product line.”
As part of the expansion, Bihler of America will be adding fifty people to manage and operate the new location, company officials said. This is in addition to the fifty people the company previously added to its existing operations in 2017.
Linder added, “We’re constantly searching for outstanding, talented people, especially experienced machine operators and electricians, as well as people with hands-on manufacturing experience.”
Even before construction begins, there are a number of high-volume manufacturing and assembly projects scheduled that include advanced servo-controlled high-speed Bihler automated machines, officials said.
