Gogo Opens New Global Headquarters In Chicago, Illinois
08/28/2015
“Gogo commitment to Chicago can be seen in this new headquarters and through its creating hundreds of new jobs in the city, adding over 700 jobs to our local economy,” said Mayor Rahm Emanuel. “This is a testament to the depth of talent in our workforce, showing that more than ever, today Chicago is a place where innovation thrives, and companies like Gogo are leading the way.”
According to the Mayor’s Office, the new state-of-the -art facility encompasses Gogo’s engineering labs where R&D testing is conducted on Gogo’s in-flight connectivity products and services, as well as Gogo’s global network operations center, where it monitors the network and all connected aircraft flying around the world with Gogo’s services.
“We’re thrilled to publicly unveil our new state-of-the-art global facilities at our namesake building after nearly two years in the making,” said Gogo’s President/CEO, Michael Small. “Today marks an important moment in our growth as a company. Our move to downtown Chicago signifies a new chapter in our story, and we’re honored to be a more integral part of the city’s technology community.”
The new headquarters also include an area called Gogo on the Ground – which is a partial fuselage of a commercial aircraft where the company can address customer care issues in real time at 30,000 feet through a virtual connection. Gogo on the Ground also serves as a location where it can test new products and services.
The company chose Chicago to tap into the city's extensive talent pipeline, because of valuable access to domestic and foreign partners, and its thriving technology scene, the Mayor’s Office said. Gogo will also be able to capitalize on access to other technology tenants located in the building, including Twitter, Fieldglass, Uber and ZirMed.
“Gogo is committed to advancing aviation by connecting every aircraft with the most trusted communications services on or above our planet,” added Small. “And, we are excited about continuing that mission from our new offices in the heart of Chicago.”
