09/22/2020
MaxPax, a contract packaging company, will invest $9.55 million to locate its 158,000 square foot production center in Hickory, North Carolina. The project is expected to create 300 new jobs over five years.

According to the Catawba County Economic Development Corporation the expansion will provide a more central location to serve their customers in the eastern United States.

“It is our great pleasure to be expanding our operations in Hickory," said Rick Geiger, CEO of MaxPax. "During our search for a new location we found that North Carolina had the right business climate, vision, and workforce to help MaxPax remain successful. We are looking forward to becoming a valuable member of the community.”

“It is always rewarding to work with companies that ultimately select Catawba County for their expansion or new operations,” said Dr. Garrett Hinshaw, chair of the Catawba County Economic Development Corporation and President of Catawba Valley Community College. “The collaborative effort that helps companies find success in Catawba County is something that we are proud to be a part of, and we are ready to assist MaxPax in any way that we can as they expand their operations into Catawba County.”

State officials said the company will immediately hire 80 new employees. “Location matters when businesses look to expand their operations, and we’re pleased MaxPax has chosen Catawba County as the base for its eastern U.S. operations,” said Randy Isenhower, chair, Catawba County Board of Commissioners. “This fast-moving project will provide a variety of immediate job opportunities for our residents, bringing great growth potential to both MaxPax and our community.”

Headquartered in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, MaxPax operates three manufacturing facilities across southeast Wisconsin, serving the contract packaging needs of the cleaners, sanitizers, personal care, household and industrial products industries.

“MaxPax is a leading supplier in the contract packaging industry, and we are excited that they selected Hickory for their new location and expansion,” said Hickory Mayor Hank Guess. “We are confident they will find success in Hickory and enjoy becoming a vital member of the Hickory community.”
