01/19/2024
The new 21-gigawatt facility, located on a portion of the Chickasaw Trails Industrial Park Megasite, will manufacture battery cells for electric commercial vehicles and industrial applications.
“I can’t imagine a better way to kick off the new year than with the announcement of the largest payroll commitment and the second largest capital investment in Mississippi’s history. This historic investment by these industry-leading companies will enshrine our state at the forefront of the automotive industry for years to come and create 2,000 good-paying jobs in the process. Today’s announcement further demonstrates to the world that Mississippi is a top destination for business,” said Governor Tate Reeves.
Mississippi Major Economic Impact Authority funds will be used to assist with infrastructure needs, site preparation and tax credits.
“It’s a win to land one world-class automotive brand, but to land three of the world’s automotive leaders and to secure this $1.9 billion economic development project serves as a remarkable testament to the power of collaboration and the state’s commitment to bringing family-sustaining, high-tech careers to the people of Mississippi,” noted Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) Executive Director Bill Cork. “MDA thanks Accelera by Cummins, Daimler Trucks & Buses and PACCAR for choosing Marshall County as the location of this new battery cell production facility, and we look forward to the positive economic impacts it will have on the region and the world-changing technology it will create that will shape the future of mobility and industrial processes.”
Accelera, Daimler Truck and PACCAR each own 30% of, and jointly control, the joint venture. EVE Energy will serve as the technology partner with 10% ownership.
