The Michigan Economic Development Corporation Awards Expansion Grants To Four Michigan Firms

The Michigan Strategic Fund recently approved state incentive grants to spark business expansion in Detroit, Pittsfield, Northville and Holland Charter Townships.

“Today’s business expansions and community improvements offer strong evidence of Michigan’s improving economy and the success of our strategy to help Michigan companies grow here,” said Gov. Rick Snyder. “We’ve worked to better our state’s business climate and our efforts are bringing strong results. These new investments will promote greater economic opportunities for our businesses and citizens.”

Incentives from the Michigan Business Development Program included grants to: Aisin Technical Center of America, a subsidiary of Japan-based Aisin Seiki, plans to purchase a building to expand its existing operations in Northville Charter Township. The project is projected to generate a total capital investment of up to $32.7 million and create 151 jobs related to the sales, design, development and testing of automotive components.

The company was awarded a $1.2 million Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant. In addition, Northville Charter Township will review an application for a property tax abatement for up to 12 years.

Charter House Innovations, a West Michigan-based designer and manufacturer of seating and décor, will expand its existing furniture design and manufacturing operations into a newly acquired facility in Holland Charter Township. The firm plans to invest up to $3 million and create at least 50 jobs. The company was awarded a $200,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant. In addition, Holland Charter Township has offered a Plant Rehabilitation Property tax abatement at an estimated value of $200,000.

Comprehensive Logistics Co., Inc. is a third-party logistics provider , plans to acquire land and construct a new 365,000 square foot logistics facility in Detroit, creating a total of 350 new jobs and investing up to $18.1 million. The firm received a $800,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant.

Navitas Systems, a large format stored-energy solutions provider, will expand its operations and relocate to a new facility in Pittsfield Charter Township, making a capital investment of up to $9.3 million and creating 125 jobs related to storage battery manufacturing. The firm was awarded a $1 million Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant. Pittsfield Township has offered support to the project in the form of a property tax abatement.
