Sysco Corp. Closing Columbus, Ohio Facility
04/26/2010
Mark Palmer, a spokesman for the company, said the 250-employee location will close at the end of June. But since many of the location's workers are company truck drivers or sales people who work from home, more than half of the site's work force will not be affected.
"It's about efficiency in a very competitive marketplace," Palmer said. "We're going to continually look at ways to be more efficient and competitive."
Deliveries will be re-routed through Sysco's facilities in Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Detroit. The corporation employs approximately 47,000 people.
