Australia-Based Woodside Energy Group Plans Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, LNG Operations

The new liquified natural gas production and export facility, Louisiana LNG, will produce up to 16.5 million metric tons of LNG per year.

Woodside Energy Group focuses on oil, gas, and new energy. The company’s current portfolio includes quality oil and gas assets and interests in Australia, the Gulf of Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago, Senegal, Timor-Leste, Canada and Barbados.
“Louisiana is in a new economic era, where our competitive advantages and comprehensive business ecosystem is generating transformational opportunities for Louisiana that have a global impact,” Louisiana Economic Development (LED) Secretary Susan B. Bourgeois noted. “Louisiana’s growth in the LNG sector is reinvigorating our historic status as a worldwide energy leader, and Woodside choosing Calcasieu Parish shows that the work of this administration is positioning Louisiana to win.”
“We are extremely excited to see Woodside Energy’s Louisiana LNG facility reach the FID milestone,” Southwest Louisiana Economic Development Alliance CEO Scott Walker added. “It is a tremendous investment for Calcasieu Parish and Southwest Louisiana. It will strengthen our regional economy, create great jobs, and provide clean, American energy for our strategic allies. Projected to produce 16.5 million Mtpa of LNG per year, Woodside will be able to provide for the growing energy demands around the world while being good stewards within our community. Woodside has been a strong community partner and a strong environmental steward, and we look forward to continuing our partnership in the coming years.”
