Florida Can Manufacturing Eyes Plant in Winter Haven, Florida
07/07/2020
According to local resources, Winter Haven City Council approved a $3.3 million sale of 77 acres of city property to Florida Can Manufacturing. The city also applied for $10 million in state grants to build new roads to serve the plant and a proposed business park nearby.
The company hoped to begin operations at the Winter Haven factory in early 2021, but that was pushed to later in the year following the coronavirus pandemic. Construction is now expected to begin later this summer.
“These jobs are coming at a critical time for Winter Haven, and we couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity to work with Florida Can Manufacturing as well as the new economic development opportunities that this project is revealing,” Winter Haven Economic Development Council President Bruce Lyon, told the newspaper.
