Booz & Company: The Global Innovation 1000

Booz & Company profiles its annual Global Innovation 1000 list, naming Apple the world's most innovative company.

In its annual list of the world's top innovating companies, Booz & Company reveals which businesses are putting the most cash into research and development. These companies excel not because they attempt to take on everything, Booz says, but because they focus on honing what they do well.

The global recession has affected R&D spending, with investment among companies listed on Booz's Global Innovation 1000 dropping 3.5 percent in 2009 to $503 billion. Tough financial times around the globe force these businesses to invest R&D funds strategically.

As part of the Innovation 1000, Booz identifies what it deems the 10 most innovative companies. Apple tops this year's list, followed by Google and 3M. For full coverage, please see the full report.
