ABB Relocates-Expands Selmer, Tennessee, Operations

11/08/2026
Electrification and automation technology company ABB plans to expand its operations in Selmer, Tennessee. The $50 million project is expected to create 227 jobs in McNairy County.

The investment will include the construction of a new 120,000-square-foot facility, located at the Selmer/McNairy Industrial Park and adjacent to the company's existing site, that will manufacture and distribute busway and bus plug systems and other electrical products.

“We are pleased to expand the footprint of our Selmer factory in McNairy County, Tennessee. The U.S. is a critical market for ABB, and today’s announcement strengthens our local-for-local strategy while it will enable us to meet our customers’ demands in this fast-paced and growing market,” said ABB Distribution Solutions President Adrian Guggisberg.

ABB specializes in electrification, automation and digital technologies for industrial, commercial and utility applications. The company develops and manufactures electrical distribution equipment, automation systems and related technologies.

“One of the best measures of our economic development efforts is seeing companies already in Tennessee choose to expand. Through their partnership with TNECD, the leaders in Selmer and McNairy County have prioritized site development and long-term planning, and today’s announcement is proof that those investments in community preparedness make a difference. I thank both the company and our local partners for their commitment to creating opportunity in West Tennessee,” noted Tennessee Deputy Governor and Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD) Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter.

“TVA and the Pickwick Electric Cooperative congratulate ABB Industrial Connections and Solutions on its plans to expand operations in McNairy County. We are proud to partner with Selmer McNairy Industrial Development Board and the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development in our shared commitment to fostering economic growth in the region and to support companies like ABB Industrial Connections and Solutions in its continued business success,” added Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Vice President of Economic Development Heidi Smith.
