Bead Electronics Expands Production in Milford, Connecticut

12/31/2018
Bead Electronics, a global manufacturer of electronic contact pins and supplier of Bead Chain, added a GF Vertical Milling Center at its complex in Milford, Connecticut. The company will expand its capabilities in fine pitch hard milling.

The company carries over 500 patents and is best known for inventing its manufacturing process called swaging. This process is a high-speed, virtually scrapless, cold-forming process capable of producing a wide size range of metal electronic components that are dimensionally consistent and cost-effective.

According to company officials, the purchase of this vertical milling center is another step forward in the modernization of our factory and expansion of the capabilities we can offer our customers across the globe.

Bead prides itself as being able to provide a custom, production tooled part delivered in three to six weeks. The new technology will allow Bead to reduce their current tool making time by half, officials said.

“Our customers value their partnership with Bead during the NPI process, leveraging Bead’s creative approach to swaging for solutions to their applications. Reducing the time from concept to actual parts will increase the value Bead brings to the design table,” Lou Guerci, Vice President, Sales and Marketing.

“Our continued investment in technology demonstrates our commitment to the growth and evolution of Bead. The purchase of this vertical milling center is another step forward in the modernization of our factory in Connecticut and expansion of the capabilities we can offer our customers across the globe,” Jill Mayer, CEO.
