Blue Jay Supplies Expands Sandborn, Indiana, Operations Center
02/11/2021
The company plans to invest more than $3.5 million to upgrade and expand its 38,000-square-foot facility, converting approximately 18,000 square feet of space to the production of trusses and wall panels, and adding approximately 60,000 square feet of new concrete surrounding the building to allow for proper handling and movement of products during the manufacturing processes.
"This expanded facility allows us to keep pace with market demand," said Larry Wagler, owner of Blue Jay Supplies. "To be successful, we must continue to invest, so we're happy to take this important step in Sandborn and Knox County." The company, which currently employs 104 associates in Indiana, plans to hire additional production team members over the next few years.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered L3RK LLC dba Blue Jay Supplies up to $165,000 in conditional tax credits from the Hoosier Business Investment (HBI) tax credit program based on the company’s planned capital investment in Indiana. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning the company is eligible to claim incentives once investments are made. The Knox County Council is considering additional incentives at the request of Knox County Development Corporation (KCDC).
"Indiana’s manufacturing industry is critical to our state’s economy and success, and growing manufacturers like Blue Jay Supplies play an important role in creating not only quality products, but career opportunities for Hoosiers,” said Indiana Secretary of Commerce Jim Schellinger. “We are excited for what this expansion means for Sandborn, Knox County and the state as a whole, and we look forward to witnessing the company’s continued success.”
Blue Jay Supplies, founded by Larry Wagler, who also founded and owns Wagler Custom Homes, manufactures wood wall panels and trusses for a variety of construction projects like multi-family residences and student housing for higher-education institutions.
