Loukus Technologies Expands Calumet, Michigan, Operations
02/15/2025
The new facility, located next to the company's existing site, will house its machining, finishing, packaging, and shipping operations.
“The grant from the MSF is the catalyst Loukus Technologies needed to make the expansion of our advanced material production facility a reality,” said Adam R. Loukus, President of Loukus Technologies. “The expansion will support the creation of meaningful career opportunities and enhance our production capacity.”
The project is being supported by the Michigan Strategic Fund through a Michigan Business Development Program (MBDP) performance-based grant in the amount of $300,000. In addition to MSF support, the Keweenaw Economic Development Alliance is assisting by working with the company and the Charter Township of Calumet to help coordinate a mutually beneficial agreement for use of the abandoned mine site where the expansion will take place.
“Loukus Technologies continues to grow by deploying innovative materials technology and manufacturing processes which provide well-paying jobs in the Upper Peninsula,” noted Jeff Ratcliffe, Executive Director of the Keweenaw Economic Development Alliance. “We are proud to support their continued investment in our community and appreciate the MEDC’s financial support of Loukus Technologies’ efforts. Their expansion will not only increase their production but add an additional 48 new jobs over the next three years here in the Keweenaw.”
Loukus Technologies develops magnesium, aluminum and MMC alloys and performs process development in casting, extrusion and forging.
