Alden Group Renewable Energy Plans Smith County, Mississippi, Operations
10/25/2023
The new facility is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2024.
“After considering multiple locations for Alden Group’s next facility, we made the decision to invest in Raleigh, Mississippi, and the greater Smith County region. We are pleased to provide new jobs to the area and will build our workforce by leveraging the diverse talent in Smith County. We are extremely grateful for the support we have received from MDA, alongside the support from the Mid-Mississippi Development Authority and the Raleigh mayor’s office, which has been instrumental to the successful construction of the new facility,” said Alden Group President Richard Thayer.
The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) is providing assistance for road improvements. Smith County also is assisting with the project.
“MDA’s ongoing efforts to support businesses like Alden Group reap dividends when their investments in our communities generate jobs, which strengthen local tax bases and even create indirect jobs as a result of their confidence in our business environment and workforce. Alden Group’s partnership with existing poultry processors in Mississippi is creating dozens of new jobs for the citizens of Smith County, and MDA looks forward to the positive impact these jobs and investment will have on the county and Central Mississippi Region for years to come,” MDA Deputy Executive Director Laura Hipp noted.
Alden Group Renewable Energy provides sustainable solutions for edible oil wastes with a focused approach on waste to energy opportunities and a circular economy. The company provides customized environmental and economical solutions for commercial food preparation companies, grease trap disposal, and municipal wastewater treatment plants by recovering and processing the fats, oils, and greases (”brown grease”) disposed in wastewater.
