South Korea-Based Hwasung Group Plans Florence, South Carolina, Manufacturing Operations

11/02/2026
South Korea-based electrical and electronic components manufacturer Hwasung Group Inc. plans to establish operations in Florence County, South Carolina. The $5 million project is expected to create 32 jobs.

The company’s new 58,000-square-foot manufacturing facility will be located at 1611 Otis Way. Production is scheduled to begin in January 2027.

“Florence County welcomed us as neighbors long before we opened our doors. As a family company founded in 1994, Hwasung has spent more than 30 years building precision manufacturing expertise and lasting relationships. With this new plant, we will bring that expertise closer to our customers across North America, and we are excited to welcome the people of Florence to the Hwasung family,” said Hwasung Group Inc. President and CEO Tony Kim.

To support the project, the South Carolina Coordinating Council for Economic Development awarded a $50,000 Set-Aside grant to Florence County to assist with building improvements.

“Hwasung’s new manufacturing facility in Florence County reflects our state’s global reputation as a place where businesses can grow. The company’s continued investment in South Carolina will bring exciting economic opportunities to our people,” noted South Carolina Secretary of Commerce Harry M. Lightsey III.

Hwasung Group Inc. is a manufacturer of electrical, electronic, and mechanical components for the elevator, energy, industrial automation, and transportation industries. The company specializes in manufacturing of cable harnesses, printed circuit board assemblies, control panels, elevator components, and precision mechanical parts, along with distribution and logistics services.

“SC Ports congratulates Hwasung on its expansion into South Carolina. We are proud to offer the robust port infrastructure and reliable import and export service that manufacturers depend on for growth,” added SC Ports President and CEO Micah Mallace.

“We welcome Hwasung to northeastern South Carolina as it establishes operations in Florence County,” said North Eastern Strategic Alliance (NESA) Executive Committee Chairman Yancey McGill. “Hwasung’s further commitment to invest and grow in South Carolina reflects the great relationships we cultivate with industry. We look forward to this new manufacturing operation bringing 32 jobs and further opportunities to our community.”
