Ireland-Based Anord Control Systems Establishes First U.S. Operations Center In Henrico County, Virginia
02/26/2014
Anord provides mission critical Low Voltage Power Switchgear, Busbar Duct and Energy Management Systems to many of the world’s leading cloud computing, co-location and enterprise data center businesses. Utilizing their AMS switchgear system, Anord provides customized power switchgear equipment from a modular compartmentalized platform that offers a robust switchgear product for the American market.
“Following a due diligence process which evaluated several coast-to-coast locations across the U.S., Anord choose Virginia as its first U.S. location based on the quality of the available real estate, the access to a skilled local workforce and the abundance of blue chip data center companies that are located in the region,” said Kevin Finegan, Managing Director, Anord Control Systems Ltd. “Furthermore, Virginia offers a sound base of suitable supply chain partners which will provide Anord with a reliable local supply base.
“Anord Critical Power will add to the growing list of companies in Virginia that participate in the mission critical/data center market. We are excited about the opportunities for growth and expansion in the years to come,” said John Day, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the U.S. operation.
Governor Terry McAuliffe said, “Virginia and Henrico County are thrilled to be home to Anord Control Systems’ first U.S. facility. This project not only creates 70 new jobs paying above the average prevailing wage for the region, it also is a significant step in growing and diversifying the Henrico County economy. As the company expands its U.S. customer base to serve the data center industry, it plans on developing a full scale manufacturing facility as part of its Henrico County operation. Anord will also use Virginia-based supply chain partners to provide components for integration in its products, therefore offering mutual benefit to the Commonwealth and the company. This is a great example of a company that is creating jobs of the 21st Century and will ensure Virginia’s long-term economic sustainability.”
“Anord Control Systems joins the roster of nearly 800 internationally owned companies that operate in Virginia,” said Maurice Jones, Virginia Secretary of Commerce and Trade. “We welcome 70 new job opportunities, and are confident in Anord’s success and future growth potential in Henrico County.”
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with the Henrico County Economic Development Authority and the Greater Richmond Partnership to secure the project for Virginia. Through its Virginia Jobs Investment Program, the Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity will provide funding and services to support the company’s training activities.
