Cornbread Hemp Expands Louisville, Kentucky, Operations
03/02/2025
“We are absolutely thrilled to receive these tax incentives from Team Kentucky,” said Cornbread Hemp co-founder and CEO Eric Zipperle. “This support reinforces the commonwealth’s commitment to fostering innovation and also allows us to accelerate our growth and continue creating meaningful jobs. As a startup, these incentives are crucial to helping us scale and bring our vision to life.”
To support the project the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority preliminarily approved a 10-year incentive agreement with the company under the Kentucky Business Investment program. The performance-based agreement can provide up to $700,000 in tax incentives based on the company’s investment of $1 million and annual targets of: creation and maintenance of 50 Kentucky-resident, full-time jobs across 10 years; and paying an average hourly wage of $26.56, including benefits, across those jobs.
By meeting its annual targets over the agreement term, the company can be eligible to keep a portion of the new tax revenue it generates. The company may claim eligible incentives against its income tax liability and/or wage assessments.
“This project is generating quality jobs for the Louisville area and adds to the growing list of Kentucky companies choosing to reinvest in our communities,” noted Governor Andy Beshear. “I want to thank the leadership of Cornbread Hemp for their commitment to quality and belief in all that the commonwealth has to offer.”
In addition, Cornbread Hemp can receive resources from Kentucky’s workforce service providers. Those include no-cost recruitment and job placement services, reduced-cost customized training and job-training incentives.
“I am thrilled to see Cornbread Hemp, a GLI investor and Greater Louisville company, expand its operations in our region,” added Sarah Davasher-Wisdom, president and CEO of Greater Louisville Inc. “This announcement is a testament to our strong business environment and successful collaboration between the private sector, GLI and our partner in economic development, LEDA, in helping existing businesses grow in Greater Louisville.”
Cornbread Hemp produces CBD products sourced exclusively from Kentucky-grown hemp flowers. Products include CBD gummies, oils, capsules, creams and balms.
