Australia-Based Barrett Firearms Manufacturing Expands Rutherford County, Tennessee, Operations
03/25/2025
The approximately 250,000-square-foot campus, located at 8808 Manchester Pike, will serve as the company’s new primary global firearms manufacturing site and will also eventually house parent company NIOA Group.
“We thank the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development for their vision and for their shared enthusiasm in this growth opportunity in our state. This is a significant investment in growing Barrett’s capabilities for the future while underscoring our long-term commitment to the company’s Murfreesboro, Tennessee, heartland,” Bryan James, CEO, Barrett Firearms Manufacturing, Inc. said.
Barrett Firearms Manufacturing, Inc. specializes in large-caliber rifle system design and manufacturing. The company was acquired in 2023 by NIOA, a global firearms, weapons and munitions company headquartered in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
“Some of our biggest selling points as a state are the companies choosing to do business here. It’s no surprise that Barrett attracted the attention of Australian-based NIOA as this company has been a longstanding partner to Tennessee, strengthening our business climate and economy over the years. As brands like Barrett and NIOA continue to innovate and automate, we stand ready to lead and support their efforts,” TNECD Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter noted.
“TVA and Middle Tennessee Electric congratulate Barrett on its decision to expand operations in Rutherford County. Helping to support companies creating jobs and investment in the region is fundamental to TVA’s mission of service. We are proud to partner with the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce and the state of Tennessee to further that mission and celebrate Barrett’s continued business success,” John Bradley, TVA senior vice president of economic development added.
