Hormel Holds Grand Opening for Iowa Plant
03/29/2010
The plant has been operating since January 25, and produces Hormel Compleats microwaveable meals.
"The plant is performing well," Hormel CEO Jeff Ettinger told the Austin Daily Herald. "It's probably somewhat ahead of schedule in terms of the typical ramp-up and some of the challenges you have in running brand new lines."
Production of the Compleats line has slowed due to the recession, and Hormel plans to add a canning line to the Dubuque facility. That will bring the number of employees there from 90 to 200.
"Hopefully it will be a nice shot in the arm for the Dubuque community and for Iowa in general," Ettinger said.
