Manufacturer for Aerospace Industry to Invest $30 Million in New SC Facility & Create 350 Jobs
09/14/2011
The facility will be located in the Palmetto Commerce Park and be built in phases. The first phase, totaling 120,000 sq. ft., should be completed by fall 2012.
TIGHITCO is an industry leader in the design, fabrication and repair of engineered components and integrated systems for aerospace and industrial applications. The company is part of The InterTech Group based in Charleston, SC.
Jonathan Zucker, president of The InterTech Group, said the Southeast is becoming a major hub for the aerospace industry, and the facility in South Carolina will help his firm provide better service to its customers.
The state of South Carolina provided TIGHITCO with training funds and job development credits (contingent on meeting hiring targets), and the county provided a fee-in-lieu-of-tax agreement plus a special source revenue credit.
Thus far in 2011, South Carolina has announced the recruitment of more than $66 million in investment and over 700 jobs in the aerospace-related sector.
"South Carolina continues to build on its reputation in the aviation club. TIGHITCO's decision to locate its new facility here is also a testament to our state's business-friendly environment," said Bobby Hitt, Secretary of Commerce.
