Tenaris Expands Manufacturing in Koppel, Pennsylvania
09/22/2020
The former IPSCO Tubulars steel facility, purchased from a Russian firm, will be upgraded to manufacture larger steel bars, including the 215-millimeter and 270-millimeter sizes. The project is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2021.
“This investment is part of our strategic, long-term commitment to manufacturing in the U.S.,”said Luca Zanotti, Tenaris U.S. president. “Our sector continues to be challenged by the volatility in oil and gas, the ongoing health crisis and unfairly traded pipe imports flooding a saturated market. These upgrades will further consolidate our position as an efficient supplier that provides a full range of made-in-America product solutions.”
Company officials said the investment would broaden its steel bar capabilities, and provide a reliable source of billets for its North American seamless mills in Bay City, Texas, Ambridge, Pennsylvania, and Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada.
