Wire Mesh Corporation Invests $13.9 Million In Saint Matthews, South Carolina, Manufacturing Facility

03/10/2015
Wire Mesh Corporation, a manufacturer of high-quality welded wire products, is establishing manufacturing operations in Calhoun County. The company will be investing $13.9 million in the facility, creating an expected 50 new jobs over the next five years in Saint Matthews, South Carolina.

The company’s product line includes standard mesh, structurally-engineered welded wire reinforcing, prestressed concrete strand, bright basic wire and pencil rod. WMC’s Calhoun County facility, which will operate in an existing building at 289 Wilbert Way in Saint Matthews, South Carolina, initially will focus on the production of PC strand from steel rod. Located on 29 acres, the 143,000-square-foot facility is situated off of U.S. Highway 601 and features rail access, providing connectivity to South Carolina’s extensive transportation network.

As an incentive, the Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved a $60,000 set aside grant to assist with the costs of real property improvements related to the project.

“We’re excited to welcome Wire Mesh Corporation to the South Carolina family as the latest company to join our growing manufacturing industry. Companies like WMC are moving to South Carolina from all over the world, because the skilled people that make up our workforce have proven to be capable of building anything they are asked to. WMC’s job-creating investment is a real reason to celebrate not just for one of our rural communities – in Calhoun County – but for our entire state,” Governor Nikki Haley said.

“On behalf of our County Council and citizens, I am so pleased to welcome the Wire Mesh Corporation to Calhoun County. They are bringing with them an almost $14 million investment and 50 new jobs where they are needed most. Our low taxes and pro-business environment have always yielded economic development success for our county and the Palmetto State, and that will continue. Our central proximity to the Port and the major metropolitan markets in South Carolina makes us a prime location for future investments,” Calhoun County Council Chairman David K. Summers, Jr. said.
