Adams Products Will Expand Operations in Cowpens, South Carolina
04/23/2020
Founded in 1946, Adams Products is an industry-leading concrete masonry technology and design company. The company’s expansion will add a world-class dry mix and bagging plant to its current operations that span 42 acres.
The company is installing state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment, which will include an 11-silo batch system for specialty aggregates and two new dry mix bagging lines. The expansion will allow for high volume manufacturing of Oldcastle APG’s two well-known product lines – Sakrete bagged concrete mixes and Amerimix mortars. The expansion is expected to be completed by late 2020.
As an incentive, the Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to this project. Cherokee County was also awarded a $200,000 Rural Infrastructure Fund grant to assist with costs related to this project.
“We look forward to expanding manufacturing capabilities at our Cowpens facility to better serve our customers and meet their needs. The addition of cutting-edge equipment will provide a first-class working environment for employees and significantly increase availability of our high-quality dry mix products to our customers in the Carolinas,” said Adams Products President Colin Clampett.
“We always strive to take care of the businesses that already call South Carolina home, and now more than ever, we celebrate when they are successful enough to expand. This investment will have an impact not only on the 31 families that will have new livelihoods, but the entire community around Adams Products,” said Governor Henry McMaster.
“Economic development is a team effort. Today’s announcement is a striking example of what can happen when state, regional and local economic developers work together. Adams Products’ expansion of its existing operations not only creates jobs with impact, but also adds steam to our state’s reputation as a manufacturing powerhouse,” Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt said.
“We are extremely pleased that Adams Products is expanding their manufacturing operation in Cherokee County. It is our hope that our longstanding relationship with the company and our pro-business atmosphere will ensure their economic success for years to come,” Cherokee County Council Chairman Tim Spencer said.
