Buell Motorcycles Expands Kent County, Michigan, Operations
05/26/2025
The investment will include the purchase of real estate in Cascade Township, building renovations, and new special tooling, machinery, and equipment.
"We are grateful for the MEDC and all they are doing to help growing businesses like ours create jobs. We are not a multi-conglomerate; we’re a privately owned company that is investing in our future and in the future of Michigan manufacturing," said Bill Melvin, CEO, Buell Motorcycle. "The MEDC understands the opportunities and challenges that go with those efforts and consistently comes to the table with a variety of solutions to help. This is just one more reason why Michigan is the best state in the country for us to grow!”
The project is being supported by the Michigan Strategic Fund through a Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant in the amount of $972,000.
“The Right Place is excited that Buell Motorcycles chose to expand their operations here in the Grand Rapids area,” noted Tristan Reuben, Business Development Coordinator at The Right Place. “Our region’s skilled talent pool, strong work ethic, and supportive business climate all influenced their decision to grow right here.”
Buell Motorcycles was acquired by Harley-Davidson in 1993 and became a wholly owned subsidiary in 2003. In 2009, Harley-Davidson discontinued Buell production. The company was revived by Liquid Asset Partners in 2021.
