07/22/2024
The company’s U.S. subsidiary, Hellenic Cables Americas, acquired a 38 acre property in Wagner’s Point. The new facility will support the upgrade of transmission and distribution power cables as well as offshore wind efforts. Operations are scheduled to begin by the end of 2026.
“We are excited to be part of Maryland’s expanding role in building a robust U.S. based supply chain for power transmission,” said Cenergy Senior Executive Thanasis Molokotos. “The support of the local community, city leaders, and state and federal representatives has been instrumental in reaching this important milestone for Hellenic Cables.”
To support the project Hellenic Cables received a federal Qualifying Advanced Energy Project tax credit.
“We’re proud to work with Hellenic Cables as they establish operations in Baltimore City,” noted Maryland Department of Commerce Secretary Kevin Anderson. “This significant investment in our state will provide support for our manufacturing workforce and our energy sector, all while supporting our state’s pollution reduction plans.”
Cenergy Holdings owns and operates industrial companies, focusing on the growing global demand of energy transfer, renewables, and data transmission. The company’s portfolio includes Hellenic Cables which manufactures power and telecom cables, as well as submarine cables for industries including offshore wind and utilities.
"Hellenic Cable’s decision to select Wagner’s Point as the location of its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility is a testament to our thriving business environment and our commitment to encouraging innovative companies to continue to choose Baltimore City,” added Baltimore Development Corporation President and CEO Colin Tarbert. “BDC is proud to play a pivotal role, serving as a one-stop shop for Hellenic during the site selection process, and will continue to provide informed guidance as the project moves forward."
