Expera Specialty Solutions Establishes Corporate Headquarters In Kaukauna, Wisconsin
10/24/2014
In addition to investing several million dollars into the project, Expera is working with a local developer to revitalize the historic Eagle Mill for the corporate headquarters building. The building will also be the future home of the Kaukauna Public Library.
As an incentive, Expera is receiving a $1 million loan from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation to help ensure the company’s commitment to the state. The five-year loan comes from WEDC’s Business Opportunity Loan Fund, which is designed to spur job creation and retention, capital investment, and training for businesses either starting up or expanding existing operations.
“Expera Specialty Solutions is pleased WEDC is supporting the ability to revitalize the City of Kaukauna,” said Russ Wanke, company President/CEO. “Our business has been a part of this community for more than 130 years and this important project will help ensure that we have a bright future in the region.”
“The paper-making industry is vital to the Fox Valley, and this decision by Expera will further strengthen the region’s role in this key sector,” said Governor Scott Walker. “Establishing the corporate headquarters in Wisconsin is a major commitment on the company’s part, and is a testament to the state’s strong pro-business climate and outstanding workforce.”
“Expera already has deep roots across Wisconsin, so we’re thrilled to see them make Kaukauna their corporate headquarters,” said Lt. Governor Kleefisch, who joined company officials in making the announcement today. “This investment is proof of the continued growth potential for Wisconsin’s papermaking industry.”
“The Thilmany Mill and Expera Specialty Solutions have been corporate partners with the City of Kaukauna since 1883,” said Kaukauna Mayor Gene Rosin. “Having Expera choose Kaukauna and Wisconsin, as the location for its corporate headquarters, underscores the rejuvenation of the paper industry in the Fox Valley and the industry’s contribution to the state’s economy and employment.”
Expera was formed in 2013 with the merger of the specialty paper businesses of Thilmany Papers and Wausau Papers. The company has about 1,800 employees at plants in Wausau, Rhinelander, Mosinee and De Pere. The company has been conducting its corporate activities at temporary offices throughout the state.
