Amazon Builds San Marcos, Texas, Delivery Station
03/09/2021
The SAT-6 facility is being constructed on 70 acres at the Whisper development, 1346 Fortuna Road, located near Yarrington Road, and will exceed one million total square feet upon completion. The company anticipates opening the site by the end of 2021.
“With over 5,000 employees and three facilities in the Greater San Marcos region, Amazon is our region’s largest employer,” said Jason Giulietti, president of Greater San Marcos Partnership. “The new last mile facility is a testament to Amazon’s confidence in the quality of our workforce and their attraction to the growth taking place in the heart of the Texas Innovation Corridor. The size and magnitude of this facility continues the momentum we’ve been experiencing with the large number of prospects and announcements. The activity is exceeding all expectations.”
According to the Greater San Marcos Partnership, the delivery station is the fourth Amazon facility in the regional footprint, joining an 855,000 square foot SAT-2 facility in San Marcos, a sorting facility in Kyle and a distribution facility in Buda. Amazon is now the region’s largest employer with over 5,000 employees.
Earlier this fiscal year, Lowe’s announced a 120,000+ square foot distribution facility for Lowe’s in Kyle, and another industry-related company will occupy 200,000+ square foot facility at the Hays Commerce Center. Additional spec spaces by Bearden Investments and Northpoint Development were also announced in the last six months, which will provide added opportunities for job and business growth.
