07/24/2024
The investment will include the construction of more than 1 million square feet of building space on an 118-acre site at The HIVE Business Park.
“Tupelo is the ideal location to service and deliver our spare parts to clients in the U.S. and other countries on the North and South American continent. Furthermore, it will serve to expand our businesses with other product segments of the Liebherr Group at the same campus. Its unique logistical capabilities combined with the central geographical location will make a difference to us and our clients. A very professional CDF team, a positive business climate in Mississippi as well as a strong labor market with a highly educated workforce positively contributed to our decision for Mississippi and Tupelo,” MD Joerg Stroebele, Liebherr-Logistics GmbH said.
To support the project the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) is providing assistance through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive, or MFLEX program. MDA also is providing assistance for constructing and equipping the facilities. Lee County, the city of Tupelo and Accelerate MS also are assisting with the project.
“Foreign direct investment is a tremendous contributor to the state’s economy, and MDA has a dedicated team of FDI professionals who work daily to bring global leaders like Liebherr to Mississippi. Today’s announcement is a nod to our team and to our partners who have worked tirelessly to secure this economic development win. It also highlights the state’s attractiveness as a premier destination for international companies,” noted MDA Executive Director Bill Cork.
The Liebherr Group consists of over 150 companies in more than 50 countries. Liebherr’s product range includes the segments Earthmoving, Deep Foundation Machines, Mobile and Crawler Cranes, Tower Cranes, Concrete Technology, Material Handling Technology, Mining, Maritime Cranes, Aerospace and Transportation Systems, Gear Technology and Automation Systems, Refrigeration and Freezing, Components as well as Hotels in Ireland, Austria and Germany.
“Liebherr’s decision to establish itself in Lee County and create 342 jobs is a milestone that Accelerate MS is elated to celebrate today. Our regional workforce partners and residents played an instrumental role in Liebherr’s choice, highlighting Mississippi as the ideal location for their new, multi-faceted operation. We eagerly anticipate collaborating with them and are dedicated to supporting their workforce goals and objectives in Lee County,” added Accelerate MS Executive Director Courtney Taylor.
