Cisco and Said Business School, Oxford: Third Annual Broadband Study
Global broadband networks improved dramatically in just one year, according to an annual broadband study by Oxford University's Said Business School, and presented by Cisco.
10/25/2010
More than half of all countries surveyed, or 38 nations, have overcome the digital quality divide, an improvement of 58 percent in one year. And 14 countries, or approximately 20 percent of those surveyed, are ready to accommodate Internet "applications of tomorrow," compared to one nation in 2008.
The study reaffirms the connection between broadband leadership and innovation economies. Many emerging economies now focus on obtaining the best broadband networks possible, recognizing the positive financial effects.
Nations named to the top 10 of broadband leadership include South Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, Iceland, Switzerland/Luxemburg/Singapore (tie), Malta, Holland, United Arab Emirates/Qatar (tie), Sweden, and Denmark.
