03/21/2017
Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, GE Healthcare, a unit of General Electric company, is a leading provider of medical and information technologies, medical diagnostics, patient monitoring systems, drug discovery, and biopharmaceutical manufacturing technologies.
GE Healthcare will be expanding its production of MRI components to accommodate several new products in the company’s portfolio. This existing 500,000-square-foot facility specializes in designing, manufacturing and testing the superconducting magnet components of the system.
“At GE Healthcare, we are committed to helping to solve some of the toughest challenges in healthcare, as well as making an impact in our local communities where we live and work. We are thrilled to continue to expand our capabilities and invest in Florence. Our vision is to bring the benefits of MRI to more patients around the world; expanding our product line and capabilities in Florence is a step toward helping us achieve that vision,” said GE Healthcare Florence Plant Manager Dale Wolf.
“This latest investment by GE Healthcare in Florence County is a tremendous example of how companies of all sizes can thrive here. With companies like this one leading South Carolina’s manufacturing industry, there is no doubt that our state is going straight to the top,” Governor Henry McMaster said.
“GE has chosen to expand their Florence County operation, and we are proud of their growth. The company continues to choose Florence because of our collaborative spirit and quality workforce. We are honored to have them as industry partners,” Florence County Council Chairman Kent Caudle noted.
