MedPro Invests $5.5 Million To Expand Fort Wayne, Indiana, Headquarters
08/26/2015
The company, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., will invest $5.5 million to add 10,500 square feet to its current 123,000-square-foot headquarters. Construction of the expansion will begin this fall. With the expansion, the company will meet growing demand fueled by development across its divisions.
“Since 1899, MedPro has been proud to call Fort Wayne, Indiana our home,” said Tim Kenesey, President/CEO or MedPro. “As we further strengthen our position as the nation’s leading healthcare liability insurer, both Fort Wayne and the state of Indiana provide a great environment for business and employee growth and expanded customer solutions.”
As an incentive, Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered The Medical Protective Company up to $700,000 in conditional tax credits based on the company’s job creation plans. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. The city of Fort Wayne will consider additional incentives at the request of Greater Fort Wayne, Inc.
“The city of Fort Wayne continues to be a leader in job and business growth as we work together to make a positive difference in our community,” said Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry. “We appreciate the commitment being displayed by MedPro Group as the company looks to grow and invest in Fort Wayne. I continue to be encouraged by the momentum and excitement we’re experiencing in our city.”
