“WG Plastics manufactures premium parts for premium customers, and we are proud our operations will be calling Abbeville County home,” said WG Plastics Technology Corporation President Wolfgang Gutmann.
Led by German entrepreneurs Wolfgang Gutmann and Uli Wellhaeuser, WG Plastics is a plastic injection molding operation that supplies the automotive industry. Strategically located near the Upstate’s booming automotive sector, the company will be a full-service supplier of injection molded assemblies and components.
WG Plastics’ Abbeville County operations will be located at Lakelands Commerce Park’s Incubator building before construction begins on a dedicated facility by 2018. Hiring for the new jobs is anticipated to begin in late 2016 and continue through early 2017.
The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved a $200,000 grant to Abbeville County to assist with the costs of real property improvements.
“WG Plastics Technology’s decision to invest in South Carolina and move here is a huge win for our manufacturing industry. We couldn’t be more excited welcome this fantastic company to the South Carolina family, and we look forward to seeing the impact that the 50 new jobs it’s creating will have on our state in the future,” said Governor Nikki Haley.
“South Carolina has earned a reputation as a state that can compete, not just on the national scale, but on the international scale, Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt added.
