Modern Plastics Expands Operations at Shelton, Connecticut, Plant to Produce Face Shields
04/01/2020
According to company officials, the manufacturing plant had to be retrofitted to start this new product line. Modern Plastics is a sheet, rod, tube, and film distributor of plastic materials, most of those are medical grade materials to be put in the human body. This company is now using its know-how and equipment to join the fight against the coronavirus. Employees are now working around the clock to try to fill the new orders coming in each day.
Modern Plastics is also making the plastic barriers meant to keep store clerks safe and plastic boxes used to protect healthcare workers during certain medical procedures.
The plastic face shields, which company officials note are simple in design but effective for its purpose, are made in the USA from High-Performance, Clear PETG Plastic (.020" or .030" thickness).
The full-face shield product offers total face protection for workers in hospitals, healthcare facilities, restaurants, grocery stores and other close contact spaces. Combining clarity with durability, the protective face shield provides clear, unobstructed, views and is bendable yet sturdy and virtually unbreakable, officials explained.
"So this is an added layer of protection an added barrier in addition to the N95 masks that are being worn as well," explains company president, Bing Carbone. "It's about the Healthcare Professionals. It's about the First Responders. The Doctors and Nurses and, of course, the Public that we're protecting and we feel really good about that.”
