Trackside Butcher Shoppe Opens Processing Facility In Campbellsburg, Kentucky
10/15/2014
“This facility will be a tremendous benefit to area farmers who will no longer have to travel long distances to process meat,” Governor Steve Beshear said. “By aiding local farmers, we are strengthening our local food movements to help get more local foods into stores and schools. This is an effort that Jane and I support in communities all across the Commonwealth.”
The meat processing facility is supported in part by a combination of grant and loan funding from the Kentucky Agricultural Development Fund, including $127,500 in county agricultural development funds from Henry, Oldham, Owen, Shelby and Trimble counties. The state is contributing $372,500 in funding. The total project is estimated to cost nearly $1 million.
Governor Beshear said the Trackside Butcher Shoppe is another great example of a Kentucky Agricultural Development Fund investment that will create value-added opportunities for Kentucky farm families.
According to the Governor’s Office, a study, supported by the Kentucky Agricultural Development Fund in 2013, determined it economically feasible for the region to support such a facility. Factors contributing to the feasibility of the project include the large demand of processing services, large quantity of livestock and reduced transportation costs for farmers in the area.
