FIFCO USA Expands Rochester, New York, Genesee Brewery Operations
05/09/2024
The investment will include the installation of new tanks and equipment and additional capacity to attract new contract manufacturing clients and supplement the Canadian supply of Labatt Blue and Labatt Blue Light.
"Demand for Labatt Blue and Labatt Blue Light beer has outpaced our supply from Canada. Last year, we began working to develop a plan to continue modernizing our Rochester brewery while building its capacity to accommodate more volume," said Piotr Jurjewicz, CEO, FIFCO USA. "We're transforming our canning and innovation capabilities, adding tanks and upgrading equipment to grow our business and create a more efficient and sustainable operation."
To support the project New York State announced it will provide a $7 million capital grant through Empire State Development (ESD).
“New York State’s beverage industry is bubbling and thriving thanks to companies like FIFCO and The Genesee Brewing Company,” noted Empire State Development President, CEO & Commissioner Hope Knight. Cheers as well to the Governor’s unwavering commitment, which is a key ingredient in supporting beverage producers across the state as they grow their workforces and fuel economic opportunities.”
Established as North American Breweries by investment firm KPS Capital Partners to manage its brewery acquisitions FIFCO USA has been owned by the Costa Rican food and beverages company Florida Ice & Farm Co. since December 2012.
“FIFCO USA’s decision to expand its presence in the Greater Rochester, NY region is due to the exceptional, collaborative nature of the beverage manufacturing industry that is thriving here, supported by talented people with beverage processing and packaging expertise,” added Greater Rochester Enterprise President and CEO Matt Hurlbutt. “We appreciate the outstanding response to this opportunity from New York State, Monroe County, City of Rochester, and RG&E economic development partners who coordinated an effective approach to support this expansion. I am confident these assets will help FIFCO achieve its long-term growth plans.”
The Genesee Brewing Company is one of the largest and oldest continually operating breweries in the U.S. The Brewery makes the Genesee line of beers, including the iconic Genesee, the refreshing Genny Light, and The Original Cream Ale.
