Tonix Pharmaceuticals Opens Frederick, Maryland, Research & Development Campus

Clinical stage biopharma company Tonix Pharmaceuticals opened its newly acquired research and development center in Frederick, Maryland.

Located at 431 Aviation Way, the 48,000 square-foot R&D facility is fully-operational with a team of scientists and technicians on hand to further Tonix’s portfolio of infectious disease treatments. According to company officials, the RDC is expected to support the Company’s expanding infectious disease pipeline.

“We at Tonix are excited to achieve this significant milestone in our efforts toward supporting and growing our pipeline of vaccines and antiviral therapeutics,” stated Dr. Seth Lederman, M.D., President and CEO of Tonix “We believe that this strategy will enable Tonix to develop vaccines and therapeutics to address the current COVID-19 pandemic, and to be prepared to efficiently combat potential novel or emerging pathogens, termed ‘Disease X’, that could impact society in the future.

Tonix is developing live vaccines and antiviral drugs to protect against COVID-19 and its variants, smallpox, and monkeypox; treatments for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder; medical countermeasures; and diagnostics for other diseases. In addition to its Maryland location, the company has operations in Massachusetts and soon to be Montana.
