MTC To Relocate Manufacturing From China To Long Island, New York
02/03/2014
The company decided to produce its own nutritional supplements and other items in the U.S., rather than manufacture supplements in China or utilize contract labs in the US, in order to create jobs in their hometown and exert more quality control over products.
According to the Suffolk County Industrial Development Board, the firm plans to invest $2.5 million and add 40 associates to its workforce in the next four years. As an incentive Suffolk County IDA approved $223,290 in property tax and other abatements which will take place during the next 12 years. While IDA executive director Anthony Manetta could not be reached for comment, in published reports he envisioned the in-shoring of MTC’s manufacturing as part of a growing trend.
According to the firm’s website, before the firm decided to relocate its manufacturing to Long Island its US division consisted of a sales and distribution center with a 15000 sq ft. office, Lab and warehouse.
