Mill Steel Company Expands Production At Its Jeffersonville and Anderson Indiana Manufacturing Centers
02/08/2016
Mill Steel expects to complete the move of the Midwest Building/Painted Products division by the end of April 2016. Mill Steel expects to reorganize the 220,000-square-foot Anderson steel service center plant's capabilities creating up to 100,000-square-feet of processing and distribution space for its painted products division. This reorganization will not eliminate any of the plant's current slitting, cut to length, or level capabilities. “The move will also significantly enhance the production capabilities of its Jeffersonville plant serving Mill Steel's growing base of automotive, construction, appliance, transportation and tubing customers,” company officials said.
According to the firm “this relocation is in concert with Mill Steel's previously announced consolidation of its Steel Structural Products (Louisville) steel framing and accessory operations to its Ports of Indiana – Jeffersonville footprint. The additional move of the Building/Painted Products Midwest operations will greatly enhance distribution, processing, and logistics capabilities for painted metal roll-forming customers in the Mid-South and Midwest markets.”
The acquisition of the Anderson plant in early January 2016 and the hiring of its experienced personnel, many of whom have a decade or more of experience in steel processing and distribution, provides Mill Steel with a tremendous opportunity to enhance distribution capabilities to painted products customers, a company spokesman added. Furthermore, the move of these operations and the expected continued growth of the Building/Painted Products operations should assist Anderson, IN in retaining existing skilled labor within the Anderson market, while also growing the local labor force.
Mill Steel Chairman and CEO, David S. Samrick said the recent moves of the Steel Structural Products (Louisville) division along with the consolidation of Mill Steel's Building/Painted Products to its Anderson, IN location is a win, win, and win for the Company. The efficiencies created as a result of these moves are a game changer for all three business segments (Jeffersonville service center, Steel Structural Products, and Building/Painted Products division) operating under the Mill Steel Co. umbrella.
