Honda of South Carolina Manufacturing, Inc. Expands Timmonsville, South Carolina, Assembly Plant
08/28/2016
Honda’s Timmonsville plant is one of the company’s 19 major manufacturing facilities in North America. Honda of South Carolina is the sole production facility for Honda ATVs and Side x Sides in the region, and associates there have produced more than 3 million products since it opened its doors in 1998.
In August 2015, Honda announced a $42 million investment, facilitating the addition of two new product lines – the Pioneer 1000 and Pioneer 1000-5. This latest $45 million project will allow the company to grow its facility by approximately 115,000 square-feet in order to meet increased customer demand for side-by-side production.
Anticipated to be complete in the fourth quarter of 2019, this expansion is also expected to generate 250 new jobs. The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to the project.
“Our Associates are very proud of the ATV and SxS products we make at Honda of South Carolina. This investment and plant expansion reaffirms our commitment to our customers, the State of South Carolina, and our local communities,” Honda of South Carolina President Gary Mabrey.
“Honda has been a fantastic partner for nearly two decades. This $45 million investment, which means 250 jobs for our people, is another huge win for Team South Carolina,” said Governor Nikki Haley.
“Honda is a valued corporate citizen and customer of the Port, using our Charleston facilities for both import and export goods. SCPA congratulates them on the expansion of their business and looks forward to serving their growing cargo needs,” S.C. Ports Authority President/CEO Jim Newsome said.
