08/26/2020
The company plans to occupy 22,000 square feet at the facility, and employ approximately 35 associates. The site is under construction with the company planning to occupy the new space in December 2020.
According to Khurshaid Kazmi, Head of Engineering of Modavar Pharmaceuticals, “We chose Frederick County to be our new base for Research and Manufacturing of new and existing therapeutics because of the unmatched support we have received from the local government and also because of the infra-structure of the area. We have noticed a speedy growth in Frederick’s technology hubs and that will attract scientists to come and settle in Frederick.”
Helen Propheter, Executive Director, Frederick County Economic and Workforce Development said, “We are thrilled to have Modavar Pharmaceuticals join our strong life science community. We recognize the tremendous economic benefit Modavar brings to our community and we are excited about their new technology.” Due to the critical timing needs of the company, Modavar was approved for Frederick County’s Fast Track permitting placing them as a top priority to meet their occupancy deadline.
Modavar Pharmaceuticals, a sister company of Cadila Pharmaceuticals, plans to produce life-saving products for a variety of health problems. They will be able to specifically serve pediatric and geriatric patients adopting the new concept of individualized treatments. Modavar will run two manufacturing lines, one for liquids and the other will be solids, using new technology they developed.
“I’m pleased to welcome Modavar Pharmaceuticals to our community,” Frederick County Executive Jan Gardner said. “Modavar’s cutting-edge manufacturing facility will provide essential pharmaceuticals for the rapidly growing field of personalized medicine. Even in the midst of a pandemic, it is clear that Frederick County is a great place to do business.”
