American Pacific Corporation Expands Iron County, Utah, Production Operations

09/15/2025
American Pacific Corporation, a company specializing in chemicals for aerospace, defense, and fire protection, plans to expand its operations in Iron County, Utah. The $100 million project is expected to create 26 jobs over the next eight years.

“AMPAC has been an integral part of rural Utah and Utah’s flourishing aerospace and defense industry for over 30 years,” said Kris Griffith, president of AMPAC. “I am thrilled to demonstrate our continued commitment to Utah and the industry with this significant investment made possible only by the incredible workforce available to us in this great state.”

To support the project the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity awarded AMPAC a post-performance tax reduction. The corporate incentive is part of the state’s Economic Development Tax Increment Financing program.

“The aerospace and defense industry is vital to Utah’s economy and our nation’s security,” noted Jefferson Moss, executive director of the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity. “American Pacific is a prime example of how Utah fuels global innovation. From rocket propulsion to clean fire suppression technologies, its specialty materials support aerospace, defense, and critical industries while creating long-term prosperity for Utahns.”

AMPAC is a manufacturer of critical performance additives used in solid rocket motors for space launch and military defense applications. Additionally, the company manufactures clean fire extinguishing agents, Halotron I and Halotron BrX.

“For decades, American Pacific has demonstrated its commitment to our workforce, community, and the aerospace defense infrastructure of the United States,” added David Johnson, economic development director for Cedar City and Iron County. “This investment not only enhances our ability to support NASA, the Department of Defense, and a global market, but it also fuels economic growth right here in Southern Utah.”
