Performance Fabricating Plans Expanded Headquarters-Manufacturing Plant In Fenton, Michigan

12/10/2015
Performance Fabricating, a primary supplier to automotive, healthcare and institutional customers worldwide, specializing in steel fabrication and robotic welding, plans to construct a $9 million corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility in Fenton, Michigan. The company expect to create 52 jobs.

As a result, the company has been awarded a $150,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant. The township has also offered support to the project in the form of property tax abatement. The company plans to work closely with Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce to interview structurally unemployed individuals and/or other unskilled high school graduates.

“The decision of Performance Fabricating to expand in Fenton demonstrates Michigan’s business-friendly environment and talented workforce. It is thanks to many public and private partners that this project is taking place, and we are pleased to support that collaboration,” said MEDC CEO Steve Arwood. “This investment will provide good employment opportunities for Michigan residents and will create a long-term positive impact on the local economy.”

“The $9 million expansion of Performance Fabricating in Fenton Township represents a strong sign of growth in the area of advanced manufacturing in Genesee County,” said Tim Herman, CEO of the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce. “The new 100,000-square-foot-building, which will house the corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility, will employ scores of construction workers for up to a year. Performance Fabricating will then add more than 50 well-paid jobs over the next two years, on top of the 30 employees it has currently, once the facility is completed.

“The Economic Development team at the Flint & Genesee Chamber worked with company officials to help secure the tax abatement and connect them to valuable resources. We also look forward to assisting Performance Fabricating with its talent needs, as the company looks to more than double the size of its workforce over the next few years,” he added.
