BorgWarner Expands Seneca, South Carolina, Manufacturing Plant
09/20/2017
To support additional business awarded to the company this year, BorgWarner will invest in capital, equipment and infrastructure at its existing facilities located at 15545 Wells Highway in Seneca.
As an incentive, the Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to this project. An $850,000 grant was also awarded to Oconee County to assist with the costs of building construction and infrastructure improvements.
“Demand for BorgWarner’s advanced, all-wheel technologies continues to grow as drivers recognize the benefits of improved traction, increased stability and enhanced vehicle dynamics. Through their strong commitment to quality, our employees in Seneca have built BorgWarner’s outstanding reputation as a premier transfer case supplier. We are proud to contribute to the local economy with our continued expansion in South Carolina,” said BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems President & General Manager Dr. Stefan Demmerle.
“South Carolina’s manufacturing sector is on top of the world right now, and today’s announcement by BorgWarner Inc. is a perfect example of that. Our success wouldn’t be possible without the hardworking people who make up our state’s workforce, and we look forward to seeing how these new jobs will benefit South Carolinians,” said Governor Henry McMaster.
“This is another testament to the wonderful manufacturing environment in Oconee and why our location on the I-85 corridor is ideal for investment,” Oconee County Council Chair Edda Cammick said.
“The Oconee Economic Alliance is proud to work with our existing industries to create jobs and capital investment in Oconee County. BorgWarner is a true corporate partner in that they not only invest in their company and their employees, but also in many areas throughout our community,” Oconee Economic Alliance Chair Christine Tedesco said.
