South Korea-Based Hansae Mobility Plans Chesterfield Township, Michigan, Manufacturing Operations

South Korea-based automotive components manufacturer Hansae Mobility plans to establish operations in Chesterfield Township, Michigan. The more than $93.2 million project is expected to create 102 jobs in Macomb County.

The company’s new 400,000-square-foot manufacturing facility will support expanded final assembly operations and integrate machining processes currently performed by suppliers in Korea.

“We are pleased to become part of the Chesterfield Township community and to expand Hansae Mobility’s manufacturing presence in Michigan,” said Hansae Mobility USA Manufacturing President Roy (Taein) Kim. “Building on nearly a decade of operations in the United States, this investment represents an important next step in our growth. By bringing expanded assembly and machining capabilities together, we will strengthen our ability to serve customers while creating meaningful career opportunities and building a long-term partnership with the region.”

To support the project, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) awarded the company a $625,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant. Michigan Works! also provided a workforce development proposal valued at $702,413, including an estimated $582,000 from the Going PRO Talent Fund.

Hansae Mobility develops and manufactures driveline systems and other vehicle components for global automakers. The company’s U.S. subsidiary, Hansae Mobility USA, provides manufacturing and assembly operations supporting automotive customers in North America.
