Wyman-Gordon To Establish Dillon County, South Carolina, Manufacturing Plant
10/14/2014
"We were attracted to the overall business environment in South Carolina. Our new facility will be located in the center of a rapidly growing aerospace sector with easy access to highways, ports, and, most importantly, many of our customers,” Greg Paolini, VP/General Manager at Wyman-Gordon, a Precision Castparts Corp. company said.
Wyman-Gordon's new facility will house multiple, post-forging operations ranging from heat treating to machining, delivering a more streamlined process with an improved level of service for customers. The Dillon facility will be sited on 60 acres located at 152 Caldwell Drive. The proximity to Wyman-Gordon's customer base and South Carolina's growing aerospace industry were key factors in the selection process, according to the company.
"This is a momentous day for our region. It's great to not only see such a high number of great jobs being added to the region, but to see our region as a part of one of the world's most important industry clusters - the southeastern United States aerospace cluster - is even more significant. Our region is capable of winning projects in one of the most competitive industrial environments in the world,” noted North Eastern Strategic Alliance Executive Committee Chairman and S.C. Lieutenant Governor Yancey McGill.
Construction of the new plant will begin by year's end with production anticipated in late 2015. The plant is expected to serve customers in the aerospace and power generation end markets in the United States, Europe and Asia. Wyman-Gordon will coordinate activities with readySC for the hiring and training of the Dillon workforce.
"It is a great day for the aerospace industry in South Carolina as we celebrate Wyman-Gordon and their decision to create more than 400 jobs in Dillon County. It's no secret we are becoming a magnet for the aerospace industry, and investments like this one only add to our growing momentum. We look forward to seeing Wyman-Gordon continue to succeed as this plant flourishes,” said Governor Nikki Haley.
